I am a student who is looking to travel to Arizona in august, but i don't have a lot of money. I would not mind spending a day or two traveling, I would just not like to spend a lot of money. Can anyone help me? are there any cheap buses or trains or planes? HELP PLEASE!

You may have a bulletin board in your school where you can post your schedule. Offer to share expenses - like gas and food - and see if someone else is going your way at the same time you need to go.

You can probably get a bus ticket for around $120, a train ticket for around $160, or an airline ticket for about $350. If that is too much, you could try Craigslist or something and see if you can hitch a ride with someone that is heading that way.

I usually go by plane to somewhere, because of how many times i go i get flight miles, which i can use to by a ticket for free but spend my miles, but from the distance your going its probably $300 or $400.

What are fun and unique things to do in Phoenix and Tucson?
My family and I are traveling [by car] towards Phoenix with a possible stop in Tucson. We been to both places once with positive results, but the second time around, we would like a more local perspective. I'm looking for some local favorites with a few tourist attractions sprinkled in as well. Basically: -restaurants (family friendly) -shops -sights that only locals would know about. I'm seeking help from mostly residents of these cities, but anyone's advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :D

These are some place for Tucson. 1. The Sonoran Desert Museum is something fun for the whole family. They have lots of great desert animals. Get there as early as possible before it gets hot and all the animals take a nap. If you go on a weekend, they will have docents to give you more info and maybe have some animal you can touch (lizards, tarantulas, snakes,...) 2. The Titan Missile Museum is another great family site. They take you into what was once an actual Titan Missile facility. Very top secret when it was operational. Very educational. 3. The best restaurant in town is Cafe Poca Cosa. It's located in downtown Tucson on Pennington Street. Big lime green parking garage looking building. Anyway, it has great food. I hesitate to call it Mexican food, because it is not what you think. No burritos, tacos, or enchiladas here. Just really good fresh food. Go for lunch to save some money. Try the "Chefs Special" to sample more if this is your first time. You get 3 smaller portions of the entree, but you don't get to choose which 3.

I live in downtown Phoenix and love it. Restaurants you might want to try are Cibo which is a very nice pizza place. For a more family setting try The Old Spaghetti Factory. This is one of my favorite places. It has a trolley in the middle of the restaurant and things all over the walls. The tables and chairs are pretty different too. If there is a game going on while you are here you definately want to check that out. There are always tons of people outside riding the light rail, eating on patios, and just having fun at the games. If you go outside of downtown a bid there is Castles and Coasters which you children should love. I've listed the websites under source.

In tucson there is a place you can hike called catalina state park and you can hike up to these waterfalls and pools its really nice there and what my boyfriend and I did when we went to tucson is just saw a place that looked decent and just stopped in and it was really good food, i can't remember the name of it now. As for Phx!, I'm a born and raised phoenician I would reccomend going to the wild life zoo with you're family, it's a spectacular zoo and they recently opened a large aquarium there. This is alot better then the phx zoo because you can get a lot closer and personal with the animals its great!, you get to see penguins in the desert! For restaurants, Fudruckers is a popular choice its got just classic american food burgers and all but it's aimed for the children and has a great environment. Living here my whole life and having been only to cali i'm not too sure on a lot of restaurants if they're actually chains or not. You can try Mama's kitchen in glendale its really good food but it looks like a hole in the wall. Also Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville is in Glendale and it has people walking around on stilts so its a fun environment too! Also along glendale ave, around 55th ave there is a great chocolate factory called cerrta candy co. you can go on a factory tour and have a lot of fun. As for shops it really depends what your looking for if its native culture I would reccomend parts of downtown Scottsdale they've got rows and rows of shops that have unique and great things to buy. As well as a great art district, you can watch peolpe making glass sculptures blowing them with they're mouths and its really interesting, there is a place called teh sugar bowl thats down there, right along scottsdale rd near both those area's of shops. We drove from Ny to Virginia when I was in my 8th month and I was ok I just have to warn you- make sure you stop along the way to walk and move your legs. Your circulation will be very poor from being in the car that long and your legs are going to swell. Make sure you stop and I don't suggest driving yourself. Let someone else drive. Make sure you have room to put your feet up and don't plan too much on the first day as you should probably lay down and elevate your legs. The swelling can be miserable. We drove down and I slept for awhile then walked along the beach and it was wonderful. A last vacation for baby arrives and I am so glad to have done it. Go with you but bring your baby stuff just in case, insurance info and your birth plan in case of emergency. Gl and enjoy your trip.

this was a cheap inferior set of pads, buy the best oem premium pads you can afford at a qualified brake shop, this is wear and tear from stop and go traffic, this wears out brake pads quickly. a premium set should last longer, they will cost more, but will last longer depending on how you drive. If you run up on red lights and jam on your brakes the pads wear out sooner, if you do a lot of coasting up to lights the pads will last way longer. So its all about your driving style.

I lived in Tucson for over 20 years and raised two kids there. Eight months old is a little young, but here are a few ideas he might enjoy anyway. Reid Park and the Reid Park Zoo. If you're from a large city the zoo in Tucson is not really large or impressive, but it's nice. These days they have enough shade along the walkways for the little ones and the Tigers are beautiful. When my kids were little they could spend an hour just watching the otters playing. As soon as you leave the zoo, there's a nice park you're in the middle of. There's a pond with paddle boats and a lot of ducks you can feed and just have a lazy day. March weather there will be nice with just a sweater --if that. The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum is great for adults and kids of all ages. It's basically a zoo of desert animals and a museum with some cool displays on geology in the area. If you get a chance to see one of the talks about snakes in the area or be there on a busier day when the docents have some of the animals you can touch out it's really fun. Make the time to go to that talk or see all the fun touchables. Also, the food is decent at the small restrauntant to the left of the entrance. Warning! Do not be taken in by that taxidermy museum of wildlife that's on the way to the desert museum. That is NOT what you want to go to. Drive right on past it to the Desert Museum. If you do any big shopping days I'd suggest Park Mall since there's a nice play area where he can play with some really little kids and you can sit and take a break. I can't think of a lot else for a child that small. There are some other things you might like and your child might sleep through --the Center for Creative Photography at UA campus. They always have something interesting going on there. If the UA women's softball team is playing then it's worth going. The games are fast-moving and exciting. My kids always loved watching that --but they were a little older. When he gets a bit older I could suggest some great hikes where you can look back over the city at the top --like Pontatoc Ridge and a few hikes up Wasson Peak. I guess if he's still small enough for you to carry him in a kid-pack this could still be fun. You'll be there at a time of year that's not too bad weather-wise. I hope some of this was helpful. Go to priceline.com. They have good deals. I have used them to travel from California to the Midwest. Usually Northwest has good prices, and they always seem to route me through Denver.

Try Southwest airlines. They have the cheapest deals.

First of all i do love to travel and do go thru denver international alot. First try expedia.com to get the best fares, but those fares don't include southwest airlines. You have to book directly thru southwest for those flights, and SW does offer non stops to Denver. But, keep in mind, SW does not have assigned seating, you will have to get a boarding pass and how soon you get the pass will determine your boarding priority. If you are traveling alone, its usually not a problem, but you could get a middle seat. If you are traveling with others and don't get the A or B boarding passes, you could have to sit separately, depending on the flight load. When I fly, I prefer an aisle seat, so I rarely use SW for that reason. Try Frontier and United, they like SW do offer non-stops into Denver, but they will have assigned seating. I rarely fly United, but with Frontier, you have three classes to which you purchase tickets. The most economical class doesn't allow pre-assigned seats, so if you pay a little bit more you do get an assigned seat at time of booking from which you can pick from a seat map. Otherwise I think its assigned the day of your flight, but not 100% sure. American will route you thru either Dallas or Chicago, both of which are very busy airports, as well as being a bit out of the way for this route. Also, you have to take into consideration the number of bags you will check. SW doesn't charge for the first two bags, but you have to watch your weight limits. Other airlines do charge for even the first bag, which I think is ludicrous. Look into the new early bird check-in at Southwest. It may improve your chances of getting the A or B boarding passes. Again, as it stands you can print your boarding pass 24 hours before the flight, but you have to remember to do it! I cannot comment on priceline, don't use it. The strong competition fuels great deals you can find with a little research. I have used Travelocity with great success. You can run different scenarios changing times and dates to get the best deals. It is relatively easy to do and a lot of fun. Where can I find a cheap flight from oshkosh, appleton, or milwaukee wisconsin to tucson arizona?
I want to travel to Tucson in the month of November, hopefully earlier in the month than later, but I am having trouble finding a flight that fits my price range. Any help would be great!

I would definitely try flying from Milwaukee - more options. If you are super-sensitive on price, maybe a drive to Chicago - they have cheaper flights. A long haul, I know. Your call.

I get my best tickets off Yahoo Travel and Cheap Tickets then I also look at Hot wire I also tend to look for fares only a week or two out To get to Tucson you may want to try Phoenix by way of Milwaukee, rent a car and drive down So find a package deal to PHX even if you get a hotel room and don't use it you will save on the getting in at the Tuscon airport the car will a great deal.

 Is it safe to travel 12 hours in a car with a 1 month old?
I was wanting to travel from Tucson, Az to Lubbock, Tx in my car with my 1 month old daughter and 3 year old son. It is a 12 hour trip. Is it safe for me to do that with my daughter?

Sure it is. Just make sure you stop often to feed and change the baby. At 1 month the baby will probably sleep most of the drive.

We traveled about 8 hrs when my son was this young. I thought this was a great time to travel because babies still sleep a lot at this age. He basically slept the entire way, except waking only for bottles and a diaper change. I say do it... and if you can do it at night, it's even better. My husband and I did that, taking turns driving.

It will be a 24 hour trip with a one month old. We went on a sort of road trip when our daughter was 5-6 weeks old. We stopped, and stopped, and stopped, and it would've been much harder without the stopping. Your daughter will likely sleep for much of the ride, but even a newborn needs a bit of awake time... Re. turning into 24h: We changed diapers in public parks all across Ontario, and sometimes it wasn't so easy to find a park. We stopped to nurse her pretty regularly, and if she got hungry, it was invariably on the loneliest, crummiest stretch of road -- so planning to stop a bit before we expected her to be hungry worked better. Despite all those parks, she did end up with the only diaper rash she's ever had. It's safe -- just have realistic expectations of how long it'll take. Even moreso with a three-year-old in tow. I'd definitely plan on chopping the trip into two and spending the night somewhere en route.

If the trip is normally 12 hours plan on it taking at least 16 due to having to stop to feed, diaper changes and burping. Also this is going to really interupt her sleep cycle since most babies sleep in the car. Don't plan on getting much sleep after you get there. And after the trip she may cry when you put her in the car seat after having to be in it for such a long period of time.

Nah... it's not dangerous as long as she is properly secured in her car seat and that you stop often to feed her. I hope she loves the car!!! Good luck! My babies loved long trips at 1 month old but my niece would scream anytime she was in the carseat.

yes it is safe. i went on a 19 hour drive with my then, 8 month old boy. we made A LOT of stops because he just got so uncomfortable. did i regret it No.... would i do it again.... probably not. be prepared to extend the trip a little to include stops for diaper changes, breaks, feedings, etc.

Yeah! They are easy at that age. As long as you take breaks to feed and change her when necessary, I'm sure she would be perfectly happy. Then again, that was my daughter, I'm not sure all newborns would be perfectly happy, but usually they just sleep most of the time. If you're lucky anyway...

We have had good luck with both Budget and Alamo. Just make sure they understand you are driving the car into Mexico and provide the necessary insurance for both US and Mexico.

Unless things have drastictly changed, you can NOT take a rental car from the U.S.to Mexico. In most cases you have to be the registered owner to get a permit. Besides, why get a car thats going to cost you $200.00 a day and additional insurance and gas and a permit as well as a tourist pamphlet. You are way better off on a bus and rent at a Mexican co. in Hermosillo. Not to mention the mileage charge!!! 500 miles return. The BAJA was not subject to the same laws as the rest of Mexico because there is nowhere to gobut the Baja and they get you at the Ferry to Mazatlan and years ago to Puerto Vallarta.
